John Gleed is a retired high-tech executive now living in Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada on the Canadian shores of the St. Lawrence River, bordering New York State. He was born and grew up in the small village of Dishforth in rural North Yorkshire, England. He emigrated to Canada in 1969. He spent most of his high tech career in Ottawa, Canada with Nortel and Systemhouse and then he was a founder of the Canadian software company, JetForm Corporation. He retired in 2002 when the company was taken over by Adobe. |
He and his wife, Rosemary Laurin, moved to Morrisburg in 2008 and they now wake up every day with a striking and ever changing view over the beautiful St. Lawrence River. Since moving to retire in Morrisburg, John has been actively involved in the community and has been involved in creating and maintaining several websites of local interest. In 2011, his first novel, "Earth's New Beginning", was released as a paper back and as an e-book. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Winchester District Memorial Hospital from 2011 to 2016. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the River Institute. |
