Save Our South Dundas Riverside Parks Share Our Concerns
The proposal to sell off all or parts of the South Dundas Riverside parks, Duncan Park in Mariatown and Loyalist Park on Lakeshore Drive just west of Mariatown, is currently under consideration by our South Dundas Council.
Many believe that selling off parkland is totally wrong under any circumstance. But the key thing that is unique about these parks is that they are (as far as I know) the only public access parks along the St Lawrence River from Lake Ontario to the Quebec border where you can watch the St Lawrence Seaway vessels pass by you about a hundred metres off shore. They provide magnificent photo taking opportunities and they are a great place to take your children, grandchildren and other visitors if you want to impress them.
If you agree, I believe that it is very important to immediately advise our representatives that this is not acceptable to the residents of South Dundas and must be rejected. In order to stop this proposal in its tracks, it is important that the councillors hear from as many tax payers and residents as possible.
